Student Integration of Salvadorans in China Through a User-Centered Digital Platform

Abstract

The growth of academic exchange programs between China and El Salvador has highlighted numerous challenges in the adaptation of Salvadoran students to the Chinese education system. This study analyzes these difficulties from an academic and sociocultural perspective and proposes the development of a digital platform based on user-centered design (UCD) as a solution. Using a qualitative and participatory methodology that includes surveys and interviews, key problems such as language barriers, a lack of structured information, and limited social integration are identified. The results show that the absence of accessible digital tools exacerbates these challenges. In response, a technological solution is proposed to improve student experience by providing access to academic information, support networks, and cultural resources. The study concludes that the design of digital platforms adapted to the intercultural context can significantly contribute to the academic integration and well-being of international students.

Melissa Trigueros Hernández, Universidad de Aeronáutica y Astronáutica de Beijing (Beihang)
