Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text must have an Arial 11 font, a space of 1½ pt. between lines and justified alignment. The page margins should be 2.5 cm on each side. The size of the sheet must be A4. Italics are used instead of underlining (except in URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • It includes the title of the article, thematic summary that explains the objective of the article, method, result in 150 words, and it is in both Spanish and English. Additionally, five keywords are added both Spanish and English.
  • Authors provide full names, institution of membership, research areas, postal address, telephone, email and ORCID identifier in a complementary file. In the event that the manuscript is signed by more than one author, the type or types of contribution of each one are indicated according to the CRediT taxonomy https://casrai.org/credit/
  • Any reference that evidences the authorship of the article has been eliminated, which allows a double-blind review by the evaluators.
  • Footnotes are consecutively numbered and have only been used for comments and clarifications.
  • In-text citations correspond to APA style (Seventh Edition) and bibliographic references are grouped at the end of the article in alphabetical order, also in APA style (Seventh Edition).

Author Guidelines

Requirements for the submission of originals

The articles that are nominated for possible publication in Open Journal should take into account that they must submit the following documentation using the Open Journal Systems platform. Applications sent by other means will not be accepted:

  • Application form found in the OJS interface of the journal in which information about the author (s) and the article is requested.
  • Letter of originality that will be filled out with the data of the author or authors and will be signed by the main author who will be responsible for the text, as well as the corresponding author. This letter will be attached as a supplemental file in step 2 of the submission process. The format can be downloaded HERE

Requirements for the delivery of originals

  • Deliver the textual content in a word file, without a password key (PDF files are not suitable for the editorial process).
  • If images are submitted, these electronic files will be in jpg format with at least 300 dpi resolution. It is essential that graphs, tables and other material used be sent separately as complementary files in excel format, and not as images.
  • The author or authors must have the rights of reproduction of any complementary material, be it graphic, images, photography, artistic work, designs, etc.
  • If all the requirements are fulfilled, the postulated text will be sent to the Editorial Opinion.

Originality
Articles must be original and unpublished, so they must not have been previously published totally or partially in any virtual or physical format. After its appearance in Abierta, it may be freely published in another medium, but the author must clarify that it was originally published here. Each writer takes responsibility for their views and opinions. Authors must guarantee that they have written the text in its entirety; Any manuscript that incurs plagiarism will not be considered.

About the authors
A maximum number of three authors per article will be allowed. Only those people who have contributed intellectually to the development of the work (not in data collection) should appear on the list of signing authors.

Authors ID: It is essential that each and every one of the authors provide their normalized ORCID identifier number, for more information go to https://orcid.org/

Articles should not include any information that reveals their identity in the body, or in the footnotes or properties of the document, in order to ensure anonymous evaluation by the academic peers who will make the opinion.

Extension
The complete article must include between 5 thousand and 7 thousand words, including bibliography and annexes, if any. It is suggested to include annexes only if it is really necessary, and in any case, that they are few and short.

Structure
• Title (no more than 15 words; however, short titles are suggested) in both Spanish and English.
• Name of the author, institutional affiliation and email.
• Summary of content in Spanish and English (between 100 and 150 words). It should make clear the subject, the objective, the methodology and the main statements of the manuscript.
• Five keywords in Spanish and English.
• Introduction (it should include the statement of the problem, contextualization, objectives, theoretical approach and methodology).
• Development (must include the results or the central argumentative body of the text).
• Conclusions (discussion of results and recommendations, if any).
• Complete bibliography.
• Annexes (if any).

Presentation format

Format of citations and bibliography
The texts must be written in APA format (Seventh edition)

Languages 
The journal publishes material in Spanish, with the respective abstracts and keywords in Spanish and English.

Images
In the case of using images such as graphics, photographs and illustrations, they must be original and in high quality for printing. If they are not original, you must cite the source of origin, making sure you have the necessary permits for this purpose. It will be the responsibility of the author to comply with this point.

Rights and commitments
Authors must include a signed letter in which they guarantee: 1) that the material is entirely their own, 2) that it is unpublished, 3) that they will not present it to any other medium before knowing the decision of the journal and 4) which give Revista Abierta the rights of the first publication of the article.

Evaluation
The editorial committee reserves the right to review each article, refer it to referees to guarantee its quality and, if it is the case, suggest modifications. Likewise, you can reject those that do not meet the required conditions. The reception of the works does not imply an obligation to publish it or a commitment regarding the date of its appearance.

Submissions that do not fully comply with the guidelines will be rejected in editorial review and will not be eligible for academic peer review.
